Herpes and new partner

I was diagnosed with genital herpes type 1 about 7-8 months ago, I got it from my ex boyfriend without knowing he had it.
I now have a new partner, I was wondering whether for him to perform oral sex on me would be dangerous or not.
We obviously always use condoms, I don't want to transmit anything to him.

Hi and welcome. Having genital hsv1 is much less of an issue than having hsv2. Oral sex with no genital sores at the time is somewhat low risk as shedding only occurs about 3-5% of the time. He might test for hsv as many people have hsv1 oral already as was acquired at childhood. If he has it he cant recatch it again. Him testing would be advised so you wont have as much of an issue or concern.
