Herpes blood test question???

i was tested for herpes 5 days after my potential exposure. it was a blood test and came back positive but it wasnt a type specific test. i believe it was one of those igm igg test because she said i tested negative for an old infection but positive for a new one.... idk. it was very confusing. im roughly 60 days after that postive result and still have no sign for genital or oral herpes.. was this a false positive? isnt 5 days too early to detect antibodies? ive been emotionally drained thinking i have it but now i think otherwise. are these igm test very accurate? help please!!

your testing you had done was of little use. The current cdc recommendations for herpes testing reccommend not using the herpes igm test ( the new infection test ) because of the false positive issues with it.  since you also had non-type specific testing done, your provider pretty much totally wasted your time and money :(


At this point wait another month or two and follow up with a type specific herpes igg blood test. Should you develop any genital symptoms before then, follow up on them promptly.

I had leg pain last night that got pretty painful and lasted all night but are gone after a night of sleep. It felt almost exactly like growing pains and affected my thigh and knee area. I know herpes can cause leg pain? What do you think? I've just been so emotionally drained for two months now and I'm tired of it. I need closure! :(

just pain and no lesions isn't likely to be due to herpes.
