1. Could it be that he was misdiagnosed for having herpes? because as far as I know herpes shows up 2-10 days after the exposure, althought it could be dormant for longer than that. and HSV-2 is way more nasty than HSV-1. he only had ONE outbreak ever since compared to the average 4-5 times a year.
2. Could it be that he has HSV-1 instead of HSV-2?
first off - he needs to see if he was ever even tested for herpes. most clinics do not include hsv testing as part of their routineRoutine sputum culture std testing so he'll need to confirm his status. If he never was tested for herpes yet, he should get a type specific herpes igg blood test done to confirm the visual diagnosis of genital herpes he's had.
You could have a false negative result on yourself but I'm betting he was never tested for herpes before to know that he had it ( if indeed he does ).
well.. he said he went to a doctor when he had the outbreak and the doctor did a blood test and he has genital herpes type 1 and 2. I'm not sure what kinda blood test that he got from his doctor but I know that one of them is not accurate. The IGG or IGM if i remember correctly. I did a research and they said HSV-1 and HSV-2 share about 50% of DNA information. I told him to get tested again just to make sure. How often can herpes be misdiagnosed?
At this point before he gets tested again, ask him to call, have them read him his herpes test results and write them down for you to post here. I just need to see the numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 3.4 and hsv2 igg 5.4 or whatever they are. I can help you two figure out if he needs further testing or not.
