Hi i went to the doctor and was recently diagnosed with herpes . i had an outbreak and went to the doctor to get a culture test, that came back positive...i also went and got blood work done and that came back positive also.
However, im a little confused, so i wanted someone to review the test results and tell me ur thoughts, here goes:
hsv igm titer: 1:160 H
hsv 1 igg type specific 0.17
AB
hsv 2 igg type specific 0.19
my problem is that these two numbers do not add up to the 1.160, it equals 0.36 which would be negative, could i have a false positive even though the culture was positive? im confused.
. same goes with your herpes testing - you can't even begin to compare each of your igg results to the igm.
your culture is positive so you know you have genital herpes. if you weren't told specifically if it was + for hsv1 or hsv2, give them a call in the morning and ask. if they didn't type it for you, ask them to call the lab they use and add it on. The CDC recommends typing of all herpes infections and every lab should be doing it.
has your partner been tested to know their status yet?
