Herpes false negative test?

I went tanning and the next day noticed 2 red bumps in my vaginal area i thought they were ingrown hairs so i tweezed them out. The next day i began getting more bumps along my labia. Then the area began to itch. I also noticed some small lesions. I asked my bf about it and if he had been with anyone else recently, then admitted he had. I went to the dr and they did a culture and blood and urine tests for all std's. Everything came back negative. now it has been 7 days and the bumps are going away. The dr had started me on anti-viral and anti-bactrial meds anyway while waiting for the results. I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen then found out they did have herpes? I am also having lower back and leg pain....

Unfortunately lesion cultures have a high false negative rate. If you were recently infected, it won't show up on the blood tests for awhile either.

If it's been at least 3 months since your partner had other partners, ask him to get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what his status is.

It has been 2 months since he had another partner.

All it was was Group Strep B, which i found out i had when i was pregnant. The dr told me it can come out in the skin also. So i am fine but it really did resemble something NOT fine.
