Herpes on Buttocks - Iniital outbreak never seen in30+ years

For those of you who think they have herpes because they have red spots on the bujttocks on their first outbreak.  I came across this by the Dr.

Initial herpes lesions almost always occur at the direct site of inoculation.  Just laying the virus (or infected secretions) on the skin is not sufficient to start a herpes infection.  The virus has to be massaged into the exposed area, and initial lesions therefore are most prominent at the areas of maximal sexual friction, and almost all initial genital outbreaks in men involve the head or shaft of the penis.  In 30+ years in an STD clinic with 15,000 patient visits per year, I have never seen initial herpes involving the groin, buttocks, hip or scrotum.

I meant to say..

are your worried about transmitting your herpes during sex?  Or because
it is on your back you are not too worried?

I did not say I don't expect to have another outbreak I said I do not expect to have a  Gential outbreak because I have never had one ever, mine is and always has been a tiny rash on my lower back,I would be quite surprised if it decided to change course after 3 years, but nothing is impossible I suppose.
Lower back = Genital Herpes regardless of whether I have had a Genital Outbreak or not.

Any idea how I got it ? .... Indeed I do, 2yrs after the break up of my long term relationship I had a single episode of unprotected sex, whether that person knew he had Herpes remains unkown to me and is of little consquence now.I paid the price for not wearing a seat belt,
A lesson learned albeit too late.

Not sure I understand.  Why do you not expect not to have another outbreak?

Any idea how you got it?

I certainly reference posts by HHH and EWH myself enough but just taking a reply from one of their posts and posting it randomly like this takes it out of context from the original question sometimes which is what I think is the issue here with you daisy ( and brookdale - Ned just experienced the same thing with you in the thread you hijacked this week on his forum too - you posted something out of context from the discussion on this forum and he thought you were the original poster in that thread asking about that specific question and it obviously created a lot of confusion until I discussed it with him off board ).  The thing about saying that an initial ob appearing on the buttocks wouldn't be typical ( not impossible mind you, just outside of the normal experience for most folks ) is that what most folks assume is the first symptoms of a newly acquired herpes infection is actually just their first obvious reoccurence of their herpes that they didn't realize they had prior to that ( studies confirm that about 1/2 of all presumed newly acquired herpes infections are actually just the first obvious recurrence ).  Especially for us gals, we can have ob's on our cervix and unless you happen to be up in stirrups at the clinic on a day you have them, there's no way you are going to know it's going on at home.  Recurrences on the buttocks are quite common and certainly there are many of us who have them there.  Hope that helps clear that up for you better daisy. If not feel free to ask more questions about it. I just don't want you misunderstanding what that information posted actually was referring to better.

ps to all posters on the board - please when referencing something that someone else has said online -please post the link to the full thread/website so it's easier for folks - thanks!

I have HSV2 and have NEVER had a Genital Lesion EVER I was diagnose soley on a small rash on my lower back smaller than a little fingernail !!! In the 3 years I have had HSV2 I have still not had a Genital Outbreak nor do I expect to!! ..... maximum friction was most certainly NOT on my back I assure you!
Anything below the waist is considered Genital Herpes!
That said every spot or blemish does not mean Herpes the only way to know for certain is to be tested after unprotected sex!

Wow...that was very informative and promising for those dealing with their fears. It will help those that are going through the "wonder if" stage. Good info.
