Herpes or Bacterial Infection

I went to a water park about a week ago and i shave down there often. I noticed a sore on each side of my inner thighs a day or two after i went to the water park the next day they were scabbed over and looked a little bit like staph infection. That same day I went swimming in a hotel pool and the scabs fell off. The next day a few more sores appeared on my inner thighs close to my buttocks. I was concerned and went to my doctor on Monday and she told me it could be a bacterial infection or herpes. The person I may have contracted herpes from I used a condom every time we had sex and I didnt see any blisters or sores in the area on him and I havent had sex with him in over 8 months and I have never had any signs of having herpes until now. My doctor prescribed me bactroban and surgical soap. She didnt prescribe me anything for herpes. Does it sound like I have herpes?

the initial infection can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks on average.

How long do herpes sores take to heal if they are just healing on their own?

yes it can be hard to differentiate sometimes.

if you haven't heard back from your blood test results in 3 or 4 days, give the clinic a call and ask if they are back.  usually the delay is in reporting results to you, not the clinic getting results.

Thanks for the help. I got a blood test but its taking a whie for my doctor to tell me the results and I'm just nervous from waiting so I wanted other peoples opinions. The cream and the soap seem to have dried the sores up and they dont hurt anymore so im not sure if the sores are herpes just healing or if the cream is helping its very confusing.

condoms are not 100% protection against herpes. also most folks do not use barrier protection for oral sex either if that was involved.

you never have to treat herpes so if this is herpes and it wasn't treated with antivirals, not a big deal if that's what you were thinking.

if you haven't had sex in 8 months, you can get a type specific herpes igg blood test done to see what your status is. sounds like your provider thought it was a staph infection more than herpes from the treatment they gave you.
