Herpes or Fungal Infection?

I don't think I have herpes. I had what looked like jock itch but very bad jock itch. I feel like I irritated it by scratching and showering it with extremely hot water... Because that felt semi soothing due to the itching. But now I'm paranoid. My jock itch has sense gone away as I used OTC Limotrin for jock itch. I feel as though it was jock itch because it was in the in fold between my thigh and pelvis. Also, I had a rash that was  circular on each side of my pelvis. What makes me scared is that the infection took a little longer than normal to clear up. (Maybe close to 2 to 3 weeks) also the rash was also on my scrotum (but only on the sides where my thigh and scrotum fold and nothing on the shaft of my penis). Also, there were these red wet looking spots that appeared on my inner thigh and sides of my scrotum... These spots have sense gone away. Normally when I have jock itch there is a white kind of chalky substance (I assume to be fungus) near the infected area. This was also there. Lastly, the thing that makes me fearful Is that now my wife has a rash on the inside of her buttocks cheeks. That is taking a while to go away. She going to the doctor. I have nothing that would lead me to believe that I have been exposed... But now  just very afraid because if she has something wrong with her I have no Idea what to tell her. We are both monogamous. Please give any helpful insight....

Oh good grief. Are you going to spend the rest of your life attributing every pimple or itch, in you or your family members, to herpes or something else dramatic? Get ahold of yourself. You've had as much reassurance as you're going to get here, and from your wife's doc.  Move on.

So my wife has since gone to the doctor and upon examination (no culture or test he just looked at it) he determined that it was a fungal infection. He then prescribed a anti fungal steroid and then made the infection disappear overnight. My wife said that the coloration even came back.. This should end my paranoia right?! Well then a couple days later my daughter had what seemed to be a pimple on the space between her lip and nose... Not on the nose nor lip. She aggravated the pimples (which are now more than one.. It Looks like two or three very small and one in the nose) they are red and scabbed over, cold this be a cold sore?  Or am I just extremely paranoid at this point

As you suspect yourself, I'm sure this isn't herpes. Jock itch and herpes look and act entirely differently -- different locations, different appearance of rash, different duration, and so on -- and there are other genital area skin rashes as well, but none of it suggests herpes at all. Everything you describe is typical for jock itch or other dermatitis and inconsistent with herpes. It is conceivable you and your wife are sharing the jock itch fungus; her symptoms don't suggest herpes any more than yours do. You can expect her doctor to confirm it isn't herpes.
