Herpes or Skin irritation?

I few days ago, I noticed some bumps on my groin area. Of course, my first reaction was to think it was herpes. I haven't had intercourse in over six months, but I've had a cold sore recently and was concerned I didn't wash my hands well enough one day and after going to bathroom may have transferred the virus.

After some closer inspection, I've noticed all the bumps correspond to a hair follicle, and I've read a lot about folliculitis, but usually those people complain that the bumps are red. Most of mine are flesh colored, and look more like goose bumps, though a few are red. It's not painful, just uncomfortable. It looks worse at the end of the day after I've been walking around and my underwear has rubbed against the area. I was also wondering if it could be from my pad since I'm also currently on my period, though I've never noticed them before (but honestly, I don't spend time checking on my groin area). I'm concerned since I don't know what's going on. I do have a scheduled doctors appointment soon, but I'm just so desperate for answers.
