Herpes or Yeast Infection?

by Style525, Nov 08, 2009 09:25PM
A little while ago I noticed a few small tiny red bumps on the glands of my penis. I started to freak out a little bit, but I decided I would give it a few days because they were very very tiny, barely noticeable, and weren't clustered. Today I woke up and when I rolled my foreskin back in the shower I had these red bumps on the glands and coming down on to the shaft. I immediately thought "oh god I have herpes". The bumps are painless to the touch, and the area where they are looks red and irritated. I have been dating the same girl for over a year and a half, and we've both been tested before and neither of us have been positive for anything. I started freaking out less and started looking for another answer to my problem. I read that penile yeast infections can occur in men who are uncircumsized, and that they can cause similar symptoms to genital herpes. I know I have no way of knowing until I see a doctor, but I'm just looking for some reassurance that this is more likely than herpes.

My other question is my roommate has herpes on his face, and borrowed my razor without telling me. I found out a couple days later, used it to shave my face a few times and used it once to shave the shaft on my penis once (the razor touched my penis 2 or 3 times). This was about a week ago, and if it is herpes that's the only way I can think of I might have gotten it. Is that even possible or is that just me being paranoid? I disposed of the razor after I found out he had borrowed it without asking, but he said I shouldn't be paranoid because he wasn't breaking out when he used it. And if I did get it that way, shouldn't I be breaking out on my face too right now? My face is blemish free right now, and if I got it from the razor shouldn't my face also be effected?

your roommate should never borrow a razor. Razors should never be shared. Be very firm about this with your roommate. You should both have your own towel, washcloth and toothbrush too.

At this point the only thing you can do is to be seen and get properly examined. It really doesn't sound like herpes going on at this point from your description.

also fyi - don't use the same razor on your genitals as you do on your face.
