with someone that positively has genital herpes 6 weeks ago. They were not having an outbreak at the time, but from what I have been studying that really has no bearing on transmission. I typically shave my genitals, scrotum, and the pubic
hair so I squeezed it and pus and blood came out and the area became irritated. (BTW, this was three weeks after the sexual encounter) I put neosporin on the area and over the next few days the sore disappeared and I thought all was fine. The following week I shaved the area again as the stuble was getting rather itchy. Again in the same area two pimple have now appeared and I have decided to leave them alone. They look like pimples, but they also look like there are hairs in them. I am trying to decided if this is genital herpes. OK, I'm obsessing over it and freaking out actually. They aren't on my penis, shaft, or scrotum, but in th pubic area. This is an area that wouldn't be covered by a condom even if I had been wearing one. If it heals up and goes away, should I still get a blood test in a few weeks? Should I go in now and get tested? Am I just freaking out? Any input is appreciated.
The reason I ask this is because if she is only antiviral therapy then she will lower the risk to of tranmission during times when she doesn't have outbreaks (Shedding is what you are referring to). Also which type is it? If it is HSV-1 the chances of her having shedding is extremely low. By low I mean low.
Herpes rarely shows up in the pubic hair region more then likely this is because you have an ingrown hair or something more. Best to be seen by your provider. New symptoms from herpes show up 2-20 days after infection but majority of the time it is 2-14 days.
Given the encounter there is a risk here and I would advise for testing after 12-16 weeks of the last encounter you had with this partner. Given that she knows she has HSV chances are less she would put you at risk during an active outbreak.
