- i went to a dermatologist who took a culture of the bumps or rash. He did not take blood. the result from teh culture was that He told me i had hepes type 2 . I had what i thought was a recurring episode about a month later and went to my general doctor who did take blood and another culture.
The new tests claimed it was Not herpes. The blood he took showed herpes type 1 which i new about but not HSV-2. The new culture also showed a negative result.
what else could this rash be if not that? Do i have herpes type -2 ?
It could be that you haven't been infected long enough for it to be reflected on the blood test. If you doubt your original lesion culture your options are, next time you get a return of symptoms, return for a repeat lesion culture and typing. Otherwise you can repeat your blood test in 2 or 3 months and see what it shows. You only want the hsv2 igg blood test done.
