Herpes outbreak after 7 years?

I am a 27 yrs old, female, and the last time I had sex was 7 years ago and it was one-time, unprotected. Before that I had had 4 other sexual partners at different times.

A year and a half ago I got one lesion on the inside of my vaginal lip and slight burning when I urinated. The lesion went away after 5 days or so and never broke open or crusted, just sort of disappeared. I've had no other symptoms until 2 days ago. Now there are about 4 lesions some small enough I can barely see them and the skin is red and slight burning while I urinate. Both of these outbreaks have happened during my menstrual period.

I also moved overseas to an undeveloped country with a tropical climate over 2 years ago. Is it possible there is another virus/bacteria causing these symptoms? Or can herpes lay dormant for 7 years with no signs or symptoms?

typically recurrences of herpes don't present with multiple lesions like this.

definitely you should be considering other causes of your symptoms. go , be seen and get some basic testing and an exam done.

had you ever been tested for herpes after your initial symptoms?

could you have genital herpes and not notice symptoms for 7 years? yes indeed. it's far more common than most folks suspect.

Herpes can lay dormant but I've never heard of 7 years. My dad has herpes as well as me( unrelated coincidence) and he had one small outbreak once and has never had one again. It's not as usual in girls but I guess it's possible
