Herpes serum test

Is it possible to get a false negative for HSV 1 and HSV 2? I have tested postitive and this is the only person that could have given it too me. He had shared with before his tests that his ex girlfriend had it . I think he is a carrier and has not tested positive. I want to clear up all of the confusion so that I can go on with my life, since I cannot change the fact that I have it.

have you ever had other sex partners?

How were you tested? do you have hsv1 or hsv2?

There's no such thing as just a carrier. If your partner was infected and was properly tested, hsv2 would show up.

yes I have had other sex partners, and used condoms with them. I had a viral culture on a sore, it turned out to be HSV 2.
What would be the proper test?
