Herpes sore after 15 years?

Hello, I recently had a herpes sore show up on my genitals (I am female). I have never had a sore before. An IGG test returned positive for HSV 2. I have had one partner for 15 years. I suspect that I may have been infected prior to him. Could my virus really have been "silent" for that long? And then suddenly show up as a sore? Thank you.

There is the possibility that the sore is not related to herpes. As you suggest it could be though given associated stresses on your body. It will be hard to tell.
Your testing makes it clear that you have HSV2. Where though on your body is an open question!
I think your partner's status will guide you here. I suspect he doesn't have it. If this is the case then we can evaluate those possibilities then.

To my knowledge, my partner (husband) does not have it. Although, seems likely that I gave it to him or vice versa at some point in 15 yrs. (He has not reported a sore.)

The sore was a blister that was not very sore, in regard to pain. I recall that several times over the years I've felt a bit of a sore in the same location but attributed it to irritation from tampons/pads since it always occurred right after period. This was the first one that I investigated with a mirror and was surprised to see a blister since it felt no worse than an ingrown hair.

One other thing to mention, in the weeks prior to the sore, I had increased pain in lower abdomen. I attributed it to the this extreme case of Interstitial Cystitis and the period coming on. But I've never experienced that type of pain before with either event.

Can stress create blisters that look like a herpes blister?
Is herpes associated with interstitial cystitis?

Thank you so much for your information. Greatly appreciated.

It is possible, particularly if you have HSV1 or had an unusual episode put down to yeast or UTI at the time.
Did you get the sore swabbed?
What blood test did you have and what was the numerial result?

I tested negative for HSV 1.
I had the IGG test and the IGM test. But did not have it swabbed.
The IGM number is 0.54.
The IGG number is 8.0.
Do you mean an unusual episode when this sore appeared or when I initially contacted the virus? If this occurred over 15 years ago, I don't recall anything unusual. If you are asking about the recent sore, it showed up right after a particularly bad flare up of interstitial cystitis followed by my period. Possibly UTI, as well. My body was greatly stressed. (The blister did not ulcerate and was quickly gone.)

Thank you.
