in her vagina) with a girl that was positive for Herpes Simplex 2. Since my encounter with the girl, I have shown no signs or symptoms of herpes, no cold sores, blisters, lesions, etc. Two weeks ago I decided to go get a blood test to see if I had herpes. I got the results today. The test showed a ".56," whatever that means. The scale said something like ".9-1.1" is positive for herpes simplex 1 and/or simplex 2. The test results were confusing to me. I asked the nurse, who gave me the test results, what this meant. She said that the ".56" could show that I just had exposure to herpes, and that she would put me on daily medication to reduce outbreaks, and help stop transmission. Here's my question:
1) Is this nurse right in her diagnosis?
2) With a ".56" rating, does this mean I have herpes (either simplex 1 and/or simplex 2)?
3) Is there a chance that it could be a false positive?
4) Can I spread my possible herpes, with a ".56"?
your results are technically positive (anyhting over 1.0/1.1-equvical) if you research on here( a lot is on my blog-same problem going on the end of month number 3/4 no symptoms low positive 1.7) but ther is a high chance of false positive with scores under 3.5 some people were even saying 3.0. most doctors need to do conformation testing w the rapid
assay by bio kit usa or the western blot to prove out low false positives from focus elissa test(which no one does for some reson-not even in michigan where im from i have to go to n.y. for the test urgh out of 164 people that tested postive from focus test only 64 were positive but had to do a conformation test to find out) so focus test is about 70% accurate and when using conformtaion testing it increases to over 85%. techinically if you have hsv 1 it can make a low positive for hsv2 thats why conformation testing needs to b done(also doctors are under diagnosing people and using the wrong tests) i wouldnt worry much if you dont have symptoms depending on your last sex
sorry read it worng anyhting under .56 is negative i thought it said 5.6. lol the number kind of show the number of anti bodies present but mostly all people that have hsv2 their score is way over 5.0 if tha helps
