Herpes transmission in houseold

Found out that I had herpes antibodys in blood test two months because I was getting herpes 2 symtoms (symptoms). They seem to be ongoing doc won't do exact test unless their are blisters which I don't have at this time. I've tried to be extremely careful around my kids but didn't realize I had this for about a month and half . Went for full STD testing and all was ok except they don't test for herpes either so I didn't know at the time that's what I had. I'm now freaking out because my kids all seem to be coming down with same symtoms (symptoms) , such as pain in lower back, sore throat ,feeling tired all the time, hard to wake up,irritable ,just not themselfs. Hoping its was just the flu bug but there symtoms (symptoms) dont seem to be going away. Every for the past 2 months something else seems to come up. we live in a rural area with unchlorinated water so I'm wondering if they possibly got it from the bathtub or something since I didn't know I had it I wasn't sanitizing after a bath and we also washed our laundry together as most families do . Does anyone think I may of passed it on to them. Thanks

It's an STD for a reason :-)  It means you have to have sex in order to transmit it.  The virus doesn't live that long outside of the body.  The virus needs heat in order to stay alive.  It is easily killed with soap and water.  The bathroom isn't the best place it will be found at.  Sharing towels is a concern but you shouldn't do that anyway.  

We get sick.  Kids get sick (gotta love school).  I had the flu for about 2 weeks.  After that I got better and then came back down again with the cough.  Granted I hang out a lot where all the sick people gather (the hospitial) so I assume to get sick.  In your case your kids may just be sick.  Take them to a doctor for a work up.  But your HSV-2 isn't a concern.

Can you post a copy of your test results along with when your last sexual encounter was prior to the test.

My doctor didn't give me a copy just said I had herpes antibodys in blood. Went to las Vegas about a month before and had sex with sex trade worker, we vaginal sex and she gave me oral sex I had a lot to drink so I changed my own condom about 3 times but never washed my hands between changing condoms and I know I had vaginal fluid on them. Went to STD clinic 14 days after tested clean but no test for herpes then went to my doctor because still had symtoms (symptoms) after about 6 weeks and asked to also get herpes test . He did a Igm and called me back and said everything tested ok except I had herpes antibodys in blood and a viral infection

the risk of contracting genital herpes from protected sex one night with a csw is very low. getting vaginal fluid on your hands while changing the condom isn't an issue either.

the igm herpes test is a greatly flawed test and the CDC recommends that it not be used to diagnose herpes in adults. Your provider should've never used it to diagnose you.  It's results are meaningless to you.

At this point, wait until 3 months post encounter to have the herpes igg blood test done and go from there. should you get any more genital symptoms before then, be seen promptly for a lesion culture and typing.

I did bring all 3 to doctor did routine blood work on one and said tested normal but didn't test for herpes antibodys , didn't do blood on other two just throat swab for Stept and those came back clean. Two of them are now having major lower back pain and have no energy hard time getting up in the morning. It's been exactly 3 months since my encounter and there symtoms (symptoms) started about mid January

we don't have herpes blood tests on children under the age of 14 - they aren't accurate!!   anyways no reason for your children to be tested for herpes anyways - we don't have the sort of intimate contact it takes to transmit genital herpes to them.  You won't transmit it to them by all of you bathing in the same tub and the virus is easily killed with soap and water too.

lower back pain and lack of energy are not symptoms of genital herpes either.

Inflamed tingling groin , very sensitive skin in groin area , tingling and pin pricks all over body mostly in both legs, numess in feet and hands,buttocks has tingling and is very sore most of the time,very sensitive to the cold also sweating at night in bed. Also have a little itching here and there on body.

what sort of work up have you been through with  your provider so far?  did you treat for jock itch at all?

Complete blood work check up including urine and stool samples and also for all Stds all came back normal except herpes antibodys in blood

Did not give me any meds for jog itch or anything else. Was in process of getting health benefits for myself and was refused after getting herpes antibodys in blood work

as I said previously, herpes igm testing is very flawed, not recommended and has a high false positive rate so a + igm for herpes isn't meaningful at all.  your symptoms also are not consistent with genital herpes either.

did you treat your groin issues with an antifungal at all yet?

About 6 weeks after I did get a couple of very small maybe one millimeter looking pimples on upper inner thighs did not look like blisters in any way

None of these except the pimples is herpes related.  You need to work with your provider to find out what is going on.  I think you are super sensitive to all the feelings going on in your body because you are trying to make this into herpes.  Prodom is max 2 days before symptoms.  It's time to look for something else as the cause than herpes.

I just feel that way because of Possitive antibody test . Do you think she could of given me herpes zoster because I also get lots of redness like this morning my lower arm was itchi so I scratched it and broke the skin a little and now my arm has about 3 inches of inflamed redness all around the little scratch and my hands get very red after washing with hot water

There is other things that can caue this.  IGM is a flawed test.  You can look through my journal on IGM testing.  Those words came from our STD experts here.  It's a flawed test.  An IGG test is the one you want.  

At this point you are just working yourself up.  It could be anything keep working with your doctor or dermatologist.

actually it has to do with blood volume in kids, not immune system.  the tests we currently  offer are based on adult blood volumes.

usually in kids we do lesion cultures of symptoms or in the case of newborns, pcr swabs of different body surfaces and/or csf testing.

at this point you have no reason to think that any of this is herpes going on.  you won't have symptoms for 3 months like this. continue to follow up with your providers as needed to try to get to the bottom of all of this.

unless you get a + herpes igg blood test result or a + lesion culture for herpes, really nothing else we can help you with on this forum.  since herpes isn't likely to be the cause of your symptoms, you might want to try posting on a non-herpes/std related forum for help.

no, the herpes igm test should never be done on adults.  the current CDC herpes testing guidelines also advise against it.

continue to follow up with your medical providers as needed to try to figure out what is going on.  herpes will not cause a 25 lb weight loss.

As grace stated, repeat your test 3 months post encounter with an IgG type specific blood test. Even then, none of your symptoms sound like herpes (I would know, I have it). You are clearly confusing risk with guilt base on your CSW encounter.

Been to infectious desease specialist he said couldn't find anything wrong with me I should continue feeling better and better as time goes on I think he thinks it's all in my head they just refuse to do any herpes type blood tests only want to test if there's blisters. if u had herpes for yrs and didnt know it and then gave birth to u children, it could be passed to ur child during birth,,,right? wat wuld the symptons be? and if u breast fed wuld that matter? if ur child was diagnosed with a geographical tongue but symptons were a little differnt..like with pain?also unexplained stomach pains and eczema??the doctors are telling me there isnt anything serious going on..

Hey grace been a while since we talked and I was in a very confused state last time because of all my symptoms,since returning to my doc he said it was an igg positive herpes test that I had and not an Igm test so now what, it wasn't  type specify and they won't do type specific. Still no blisters but get wierd skin pain and red little sores all over my body,underarms,stomach,legs,also seem to get red eyes easily also pain in left leg mostly,been using talc powder ingroin area to keep as dryaspossible ,thanks for any advise you can giveme

Hey. Grace,since i can't get a type specific 1 or 2 igg herpes test from my doc can I order one online and if so from which company. They only do type specific on pregnant females the test he did was an igg antibodys test and he said it came back Possitive for antibodys in theblood and that it was a resent infection I think I got tested about 8 weeks after contact. STD clinic won't do herpes blood test they will only swab blisters or sores and I never had any blisters had small pimple like sore at top of pubic hair line STD clinic did swab it and it came back negative. Is The test I get online done at home and sent back for results?

You can do a search online for either tstd.org or healthcheckusa.  They can order up a Type specific igg blood test.  Your provider should be following the CDC 2010 Guidelines which covers that only type specific testing should be used.

At this point be seen by a dermatologist and go from there. obviously something is causing your rashes, more important to find out what than to seek out testing for herpes at this point.

it's very unlikely this is herpes eczema too.
