I just did a blood work and hsv 1 was negative >500 and my hsv  2 was positive 1.11, doc used the iGg test, he told me not to worry and want to retest in 3 weeks time. Can me taking the valtrex for my eye infection triggers my low positive results, am confuse cause doc is not explain anything. My partner for three years now, got tested for hsv 1 and hsv2 and both results came back negative. i never had any symptoms or anything, Can anyone explain to help me pit plz

Usually herpes infections of the eye are due to hsv1, not hsv2.  It's from the virus naturally migrating up the nerves of the face into the eye.  did they do the dye test for your eye and look at it under a special light?

was your hsv1 igg >5.00?

grace

your hsv2 igg is a low positive and is most certainly  a false positive.

How was your ocular herpes diagnosed? Did they swab it, cultured it?

Apparently, you're HSV1+ (as most people are) and have a equivocal result for HSV2. Your HSV2 is most likely a negative one. Re-testing is a good idea, but it would be best to pursue a confirmatory test, such as the Western Blot or the Biokit. Ask your doctor about them - WB can be performed through Quest Labs, apparently.
