Herpes?

So I've had this itching sensation for about two months now which started in my groin area and has radiated basically to my entire body (mostly feet, thighs, buttocks, and groin) yet there were no signs of anything herpes related. About four weeks ago I had stupid drunk unprotected sex and began getting these round itchy ulcer type bumps on my penis and scrotum. I have been put on Acyclovir 3 times a day for 10 days and am on day 4 but no relief from the itching or visible signs of whatever this is. Any insight as to what this is?

I think you need to return and have a more extensive review of the symptoms. It could be other STDs, bacterial, fungus etc.

'Looked like Herpes' isn't good enough, so many things look alike in that region and the ailments that can occur. If the sores open, weep etc. then a swab would be useful. If you have HSV-1 then it comes close to ruling out a genital HSV-1 infection.

Could you ask the partner to undertake a full STD panel testing including IgG for herpes? The opening line of 'I may have an STD' will usually send partners to the doctors promptly.

Thanks for the reply. I actually saw a doc this past week where he prescribed me with the Acyclovir and said that what he saw looked like Herpes and I am also positive for hsv-1. It's just strange that I've been so itchy becuase not only is it an itch but it's rather intense as far as when I start it's hard to stop itching.

You will need to follow up with your doctor, no chance of a meaningful diagnosis on here.

Does it sound like herpes? Not really, but a good idea to follow up with testing at least 12 weeks after the exposure that concerns you given you have had unprotected sex.

What diagnosis have you had already? How is it that you come to be on antivirals?
