i had a culture test which came back positive. my boyfriend just got a call from his doc yesterday, he was told negative for a blood test. how can this be i've never cheated on him, so how can i have it. if he gave it to me should'nt it be in his system and tested positive? Now about the sores in our mouths, his has gone away, i still have the two, but i,ve looked at pics on the internet and they look more like canker sores. But i dont know whether they are or not(they are inside in my mouth not on my lips, and his were too.)
thanks for showing interest .
Even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. Call your clinic and ask if they had your lesion culture typed. If they didn't, ask them to call the lab and see if they still have the specimen to order it typed ( they really should be ordering all lesion cultures typed as policy ). Otherwise you'll have to wait and repeat your blood test in a few months to see if you get better answers.
It's most likely hsv1 genitally you have going on unless your partner has had another partner recently ( not saying that he had to have by no means, just saying that if you have hsv2 and not hsv1, he has some 'splainin' to do ).
I don't know what type blood test he had done. I called my clinic today to ask whether it's hsv1 genital or hsv2, their test only lets you know if you have it or not but does not specify type. They said that the culture has been disposed of, and if i wanna know the type, to just go get a blood test.(My blood was never tested for herpes when i had a culture done). We are defenitely going to get tested again but what blood test should we ask for?
