This forum is an un-mediated, patient-to-patient forum for questions and support regarding herpes issues such as: Herpes symptoms and treatments, causes, diagnosis, and herpes in men, tests, telling your spouse or partner.
Get a blood test for both types and find out what you have. You have may have type 2 genitally, but you won't know until you get tested. Have your partner get tested too. You can't "self-diagnose" herpes. Somebody needs to look at a sore or blister and culture it to be sure that is what you have.
If you have an unfaithful partner, use condoms.
It's more than likely he already had HSV1 when you guys got together. Most people are positive for it.
