Herpes

by neenee37, Apr 15, 2009 07:39PM
I have had oral herpes since I was in the third grade. I did not know I could transmit it thru oral sex. My partner has had no symptoms that I know of. I do not know when I began having symptoms of genital herpes. Initially, I didn't even realize it. However, last month I had a very small outbreak, I suppose. After reading up on the subject for a month, I don't know what to think. I do know my partner has been unfaithful several times!!!!! However, again, if my partner has had symptoms, he did not inform me. I don't know what to think. Did I give HSV-1 thru oral sex? Did he then give it to me? Is it possible that he has had HSV-1 with no oral blisters? I'm going crazy.

Get a blood test for both types and find out what you have. You have may have type 2 genitally, but you won't know until you get tested. Have your partner get tested too. You can't "self-diagnose" herpes. Somebody needs to look at a sore or blister and culture it to be sure that is what you have.

If you have an unfaithful partner, use condoms.

It's more than likely he already had HSV1 when you guys got together. Most people are positive for it.
