Herpies & Headaches

I was diagnosed with Herpies 1 & 2. I just got an MRI and CT with contrast for Migraines. I wanted to know if Herpies can be the cause of my Migraines? I have heard of a herpies in the brain. I can't remeber the name of it off the top of my head. I believe it starts with an S. If there is herpies in the brain will it show on an MRI or CT scan? What treatments can be done for that type of herpies?

Herpes of the brain is herpes encephalitis. It's incredibly serious and it would've shown on as actual changes in your brain on the MRI. I don't think it's something you need to worry about since they didn't rush you to the hospital and admit you after seeing your MRI.

A newly diagnosed herpes infection can cause meningial irritation that can trigger headaches. It usually only lasts a few short weeks though. some folks will get a headache before a recurrence but you aren't mentioning anything of that sort in your post so it's doubtful that your herpes has anything to do with your headaches.

I hope you and your doctor are able to find a successsful treatment for your migraines - I HATE headaches.
