High HSV 1 and low positive HSV-2

Hi.  I know I have HSV-1.  I've gotten cold sores for decades. 6 months ago I tested negative for HSV-2 and positive for HSV-1.  IT was the IGg test I read about.  Today I received results that I again tested positive for HSV-1 (39.0) but also for HSV-2 with a 2.10 score.  I am a gay male and I have had unprotected oral sex as well as frottage but never anal intercourse.  I have had 3 sexual partners in the last 6 months none of whom showed any signs or symptoms (though I know this is not a guarantee).  I'm very concerned about being positive now for HSV-2.  What are the chances of a false positive here?  I will get retested today.

To be sure though, you need to be 16 weeks post last sexual contact before having the WB.

Thank you.  I hope you are right. I'm having the western blot test done this week to double check.

In that case the chances of this being a false positive are very high. You will probably need to wait a few weeks before retesting.

Are you saying that you have had no protected intercourse either?
