My partner and I have been together for 2yrs and we just decided to go and get tested for any STDs. When he got his results back everything was negative. When I got mine back almost everything was negative. I was surprise to find out that I have HSV 2. I got tested twice before we got together and neither of those test came back positive for anything. I have not had any breaks outs at all. So how come I have this disease and he does not?
The test name was HSV1/2 IGG, Herpeselect Type Specific AB HSV 2 IGG Specific AB
This is what the result saids"1.10 Positive.
This assay is type specific and will determined between HSV1 and 2 infections. A single positive result only indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may be used to determined active infective or disease stage. Does this mean that I have it?
The test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks when negative or equivocal results are obtained in suspected early herpes simplex disease....
Please recheck your results to make sure that the hsv2 igg really was 1.10.
If it really is 1.1 as a result, it's an incredibly low positive and incredibly unlikely to truly be positive since your partner is testing negative for hsv2. It's up to you if you even want to pursue additional confirmatory testing to confirm your negative status - it's that low of a chance that you really have hsv2 based on that result.
Not sure as to what this means either
Index Interpretation
1.10 Positive
If you could help me to understand what is happening... Now come his test is showing up NEGATIVE and mine is POSITIVE...
I thought you originally posted the wrong information.
Your hsv1 igg is over 5.
Your hsv2 igg is over 5.
Statistically this means you have hsv1 orally and hsv2 genitally.
any idea how you were tested previously for herpes? if you can call and get the results ofyour previous tests I can better helpyou. Also are you sure your partner was also tested for herpes this time?
