Hsv-1 ?
I would like to update my question: I am 39 years old female with cold sores since I was a child . In November 2008 I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible itching / burning on my vulva.I didn`t know what is it. First I thought that it is yeast infection , but I didn`t see any signs of it after visual examination.I went to my primary doctor and she did a vaginal swab and pap smear .The tests came negative. I was still having symptoms of burning in my vulva and perineal / anal area , sometimes in vagina also.This symptoms were from mild to severe and intense , from constant to intermittent and persisted for 6-8 weeks.I went to the doctor again and again and I asked what test did we miss.
She said :" I did everything for you , only the test we didn`t do was the one for herpes " I almost fainted.That never even cross my mind , that I can have a herpes.She did a blood test and results were HSV -1. I was not surprised I knew I have cold sores . My doctor said that I have to calm dawn , relax and everything will be O.K.
I started to do my own research.I didn`t know that I can have HSV-1 in genital area , I was scared . Finally my symptoms went away after 6 maybe 8 weeks.I was fine for 2 months. In April 2009 symptoms came back the same way : terrible burning sensation in my vulvar/perineal area.I went to doctor again.She examined me and said that I am crazy . She didn`t find anything! She gave me Diflucan for 2 days 150 mg and told me to relax ,and I don`t have herpes.After Diflucan symptoms were not any better for another 2 weeks , then started to decrease and finelly went away . But in July first 2009 symptoms came back and stay untill now 08/03/2009.I started to watch my symptoms very carefully.I noticed that I was under terrible emotional stress before symptoms started with burning / itchhing then later I felt pain inside of my vagina and right site of my lowel part of the buttock. The pain was like a muscle spasm or something like that it is hard to explain.I tried Valtrex 500mg daily for 5days , didn`t help , I increased the dose to 500 mg twice daily , didn`t help.Then I increased the dose to 1g twice daily and finelly after one day of this dose I had relief of pain. But after 12 hrs I started to have itching sensation in my inside thighs and gradually on my vulva and perineal area , so I took valtrex 1 g again and symptoms diminished after 2-3 hrs. The story repeated for another two days , Valtrex helped for 9-10 hrs and then symptoms came back. When I take Valtrex 1 g twice daily I feel fine , when I don`t symptoms are back. What is it?! I don`t want to take Valtrex 1 g twice a day for rest of my life! That is so many side effects of this drug.I need help. I take valtrex 1 g twice daily for 5 days total now , I plan to do it for another 5 days and stop. I don`t know what will happen.Please respond to my question. Is it herpes ?

this really doesn't sound like herpes going on.
You know it's not hsv1, you already have that orally.
do you have a regular partner? have they been tested to know their status?
Your blood test was a little early to check for a newly acquired hsv2 infection so if you want to repeat it you can but honestly this sounds like something else going on. I suggest you stop the valtrex an dfollow up on this with a different provider.
