Hey MedHelp community, I just wanted to say thanks in advance for any help provided.
I recently started a new relationship and decided to get tested for everything before getting serious. The test results came back negative for everything except the HSV I/II IgG. The result said 7.4 for the detection of antibodies on 12/27/10. From what I have read on these forums, a 7.4 result seems relatively high so I opted for the follow up test that LabCorp provided which was the HSV Type-Specific Immunoblot. I finally recieved the results on 1/10/11 and they said Equivocal/Negative. I guess my question is how do i interpret these two test results and where should i go from here?
It was a combined result. They said the blood test was unable to determine the exact typing and recommended I take the follow up to determine which type i had antibodies for. The follow up or second test came back with equivocal/negative without any numbers associated to it.
Thanks for the quick response too, i really appreciate everything you guys are doing!
After I got the results from the first test, they said, "If you would like to know specifically if your body has antibodies for Herpes Type 1 or Herpes Type 2, you need to take a much more comprehensive Herpes test panel. When the type specific herpes panel is taken as a secondary test..." And they offered that test, which I took and got the equivocal results. So I'm assuming that it was designed to specifically identify which type I had so I'm not sure why I got the results I did.
