Hsv2 & pregnant.
I've been hsv2 positive for almost a year, also 5 months pregnant.. What's the odds of passing it to the baby.
we've had a few folks post here who get hives from it. sometimes the "extras" in medications can trigger those sorts of reactions.
I was first on acyclovir, but it caused me to break out in hives! My Dr thought it was odd because they had never seen anyone allergic to it. That's when they prescribed me famvir. But thank you all for the info :)
I don't think we have info on famvir dosing during pregnancy. We recommend the higher immunosuppression doses of valtrex and acyclovir during the last month of pregnancy. Your body is naturally immunosuppressed during pregnancy so it takes the higher doses to better control the virus.
since you were infected with hsv2 prior to pregnancy, the odds of transmission to your baby during birth are less than 1% as long as you don't have any obvious symptoms during delivery. should you have a recurrence the week you are due or when you go into labor, a c section is recommended.

I'm on famvir for suppression, I had a cultural swab done a year ago at a clinic, I pretty well knew I had contracted the virus because the initial outbreak was crucial. The babies father knows of me having it, and got tested his hsv1 and 2 have came back negative.
Hi, extremely low. Established infections like yours allow some of the antibodies to be temporary with the baby. The most important issue is that your put on antiviral medication at a time prior to delivery to surpress the virus. Work with your doctor on the but its nothing to be overly concerned about at all.
The far bigger risk is for mothers that contact the virus during pregnancy where antibodies are lacking and more outbreaks could occur.
