Hygiene and symptoms

Hello. I have been reading many articles, but have not found any that clearly state how you should wash yourself when an outbreak is imminent are present. Can someone please help me out? What is the best way to wash an infected area? With soap and water, by hand, or by washcloth? I am a male so I'd appreciate how to thoroughly clean the penis and associated parts, but I am sure that female members would also appreciate this type of information, that pertains to their areas, as well.

What are some of the initial symptoms prior to an outbreak? Is there any smell associated with it? Do you sometimes experience any type of kidney for organ pain as well?

Thank you.

Hi, herpes is spread but direct skin contact. Hands are not an issue because the skin is to thick to allow the virus to enter. Just wash in the normal way. Most mentioned symptoms of a pending outbreak is tingling.
