Hello Doc

I always had protected sex in my life and unprotected oral sex(blowjob by women (many times) and cunngilus(1 time)).My last exposure was 2 months back and here i gave cunngilus first time.after 3 weeks i had HIV test which comes negitve.After 6 weeks of this exposure i saw red spots on my penis.they never burn,itch .Red spots/bumps comes and then dry out and then i found it in other part of glan.they are very small and sometime it look like puss is there in them but never comes out and after 2 3 days dry out completely.i never experienced outbreak and neither cold sore but also never tested for any STD.

Do you think it is Herpes or any other STD?
What are the chances of having HIV due to unprotected Cunngilus?

Hi Grace

It's about 8 weeks from my last exposure and such red spots comes into play from last 2 week only and these red spots come on glan and are very small.they dont burn,itch and also dont irritate me. and in 2 3 days it dry out completely.i dont know if its due to mastubation.

I never tested for herpes and also did not shown it to doc.

Can you advice me what to do and do you think its herpes?

odds are this isn't herpes but you need to be seen next week and get a proper work up done to figure out what is going on so you can properly treat it.

Hi Grace

I went to my GP today and after seeing my Penis,he said it's nt herpes and this redness is just due to irritation.Then i asked him for herpes test and he said not required and wont recoomend it at all.Also he said that when u have herpes then u will have blister and would be painful in first outbreak.

He said if you have blister then we can take culture test otherwise no test required.

Can you please advice what would you suggest?

Also i want to ask should i go for another HIV test .i had unprotected cunngulus in my last exposure.i went for test after 3 weeks of exposure and it came negitive but 3 weeks is not definative.

You should work with your provider on being tested.  Your provider looked you over.  At this point I would go back after 12 weeks and ask for STD testing inculding a type specific hsv igg test.

Hi MistakeGuy/Grace,

It's now 11 weeks from my last exposure where i gave cunggilus to one of the Sex Worker and i have few questions:

1)From last 2 days I have severe headache Started.Is it because of ARS ?

2)What are my chances of being infected by HIV eventhough I had 3 weeks test also after the last exposure and it came negitvie.

3)Still Red spots comes and go on my penis and never itch.burn,and no puss..just red mark and now its from last 5 weeks.so i am pretty sure it cannt be herpes.what do you think? I think it is due to irritation.

4)I am planning to go for HIV and Herpes TEST.should i go after 12 weeks(84 days) or 13 weeks(91 Days).(I know foolish question but it's just anixty,i just want to stop thinking of all this after this test).

all hiv related questions need asked on the hiv forum.  I can tell you though that there is absolutely no reason to test for hiv from this. you weren't at risk.

you need to continue following up with your provider for your symptoms. have you been back to have these looked at again? if so, what did they think they were?

as I've said previously, this doesn't sound like herpes.

you can get the testing done but if you only test + for hsv1, no real answers.

Your are Right!!!

Today my result came and its bad news for me.

1)HIV test result is negitive as u said(.09)

2)My Herpes IGM test result comes out(.6) negative

3)MY Herpes IGG test result comes out positive(8.2).i told doctor to have herpesselect test but some mistake happen and its my consolidated result. Now I don’t know if it is hsv1 or hsv2.i never had any outbreak inmy life and now in relly scared. Doctor told me that no need to have specific test,when you have any synptoms then we can treat it and also the medicine is same for both case.

What should I do ?Please advice how can live a normal life withi this,can I marry a normal girl with this infection?.Don’t know…I think it must be hsv1 but I dnt remme if I had any coldsore.

Please give me your wise advice.

The non-type specific IGG test does have a high false postive rate.  You need to be tested using a type specific test not a combo.  Regardless you need to know which type you have.  If you have HSV-1 orally medicine may not help as much.  At this point call your doctors office and request that the doctor order a type specific blood test and to read up on the CDC 2010 guidelines for HSV testing.

I asked the doctor to have specfic test but he said when you have symptoms then we can check for specific one and also give medicine,i dont have any symptmos and dnt have any outbreak in my entire life.

1)Do you think by specific test my result may change and both would be negitive.

3)how much it effect my normal life.because of this infection ,frequecy of having more infection incresed.

One more question i have to add with above ones.

what will matter if i would go for specific IGG test.i can just know it is hsv1 or hsv2.but in all i herpes but no sysmptoms.

is it possible to be both negitive agter specific test.

you need type specific herpes igg blood testing done. the non-specific ones are a waste of time and money and your provider should not be ordering them on his patients.  

you know absolutely nothing about your herpes status at this point.

Today i went to my GP and asked him for specific test and here in holland,Labs dont have herpesselect specific test and told me he will check with lab again and let me know.

He also said that if you have any symptoms then we can take viral culture and known for herpes type.He also mentioned that as only your igg test came positive,high chance is that you may have coldsore on childhood and i also i want to mention that i always had protected sex in my life.

He said you can continue your normal life and wont infect other if you dont have any symptoms.Is it true?

If a person have oral herpes in chilhood 20 yrs back.Is still he can infect others.

i also want to ask can chicken pox had any equation with this igg test as i had it 5 yrs back.


Please give me your wise advice as i seriously want to live good and normal life.

you can transmit both oral herpes and genital herpes even without obvious symptoms.
