, peeled a lot, and the bumps lasted for about a full week. My husband said that the sores were not very visible to him. I have had about 3 reoccurrences in the last 3 years, and am not sure what it is. I had a bad reoccurrence about 2 weeks ago that lasted for a full week, and it keeps reoccurring every few days now. A few painful
blisters will pop up, and within a day or two be gone. About 3 or 4 days later, they'll show up again. This is the strangest and longest reoccurrence I have ever had, and it's driving me crazy! Do I have herpes? Are these "cold sores"? Should I treat them like cold sores? I can't seem to find anyone who has symptoms like the ones I have.I drink and go out a lot on the weeknds and like to stay up late during the week, so I am thinking that maybe stress and fatigue might be the cause, but I am just not sure. Thanks for any help.
Fever blisters, cold sores and oral herpes are all the same thing. Usually they are hsv1.
At this point they are almost healed so oral antivirals aren't of much use. don't waste your money on abreva either - it's over priced and doesn't heal them up much faster than using a placebo. At this point I suggest things like ice cubes for comfort and to help reduce the redness. You can also steep a tea bag, let it cool a bit and then hold it on the sores for comfort and to help speed healing. You can do this a few times a day. Other folks like to use things like listerine - dab it on the lesions to help dry them out and speed healing.
