Avoid contact with your baby when you have a cold sore present or you feel one maybe on coming.

Avoid kissing area's near the eyes though.

How were you diagnoised with HSV-1?

I would recommend that you don't kiss the baby when the sore is present because it may cause transmission to the baby.I feel that it would be safe not to. On the one hand kiss her when you don't have a sore and it won't be transmitted to her because newborn babies bodies are sensitive. You said you have never had an outbreak but your pregnant sometimes pregnancies can cause flare ups because of how your hormones are working but if you don't have any outbreaks when the baby is born I would say it is safe to kiss him/her.
