I have had my first outbreak and I seem to have both a "cold sore" and gential (genital) lesions...what does this mean?....I have never had a out break in my life....i did not perform oral sex
People talk about how the virus can be in your body for years....if one of your first outbreaks is genital ...is this true...could I be the source...or are you more likely to have contracted from your partner
you can have hsv1 both orally and genitally at the same time. at this point all you can do is wait for test results on yourself. has your partner been tested yet?
no.... but lets say one did get both orally and genitally at the exact same time.... what would be more likely if the outbreak occurred after 5 days of sexual
contact.......the virus was in their body dormant for say 44 years, ( after only three partners in a life time in which noone ever showed symptoms) .......or that they got the virus from their partner. I know you can not give a definite answer, but I did read that if you had the oral infection first you were less likely to get the genital.....so if it was dormant, why would one get both at the same time? I realize I'm being alittle annoying here, but there's so much information......
If you never had an outbreak and you have a new partner and got a new outbreak, it is new. Did you and your partner get tested before you engaged in sex
sores tested to make sure that they are herpes and if they are herpes which type of herpes 1 or 2. You also might have other STDS other than herpes from your partner such as clamidia and gonorreah. Go to your nearst STD clinic and get tested. Your partner needs to be tested also. Always get your new partners tested before you have any type of sex
I got the results back and the culture came back "type 1 isolated", I got the results from the nurse and therefore did not get to speak to the doctor. When testing however, the doctor said that she thought this was somthing I already had becuase I wasn't getting "huge" flu like symptoms. However, I've never had a cold sore before and all of a sudden I have both...does this sound new to you....just asking your opinion....I understand you can't guarantee anything....my partner is far away in a place that testing isn't available at this time...so I'm just trying to figure this out
it's not likely that you contracted hsv1 genitally after already having had it orally. Odds are you contracted them both around the same time from the same partner.
no he's at an isolated place where testing won't be possible at this time.....so in other words, I don't have to have these monster flu like symptoms for it to be a first outbreak......the doctor being convinced by those symptoms ( that its a recurrent) is really confusing me.
no she didn't even ask...she just said, most people get swollen glands and get very sick on their first outbreak...otherwise its probably a dormant virus......so you could see where the confusion is.....both oral and genital at the same time, HSV1 genital diagnosis, but being told its recurrent
this could just be your first obvious recurrence of both. that is why getting the blood test at the time of the culture is useful to help determine that.
