I don't know that the date is any kind of sign, to be honest. The virus behaves differently in everyone. The usual pattern for someone who has never contracted either type of the virus is that the first infection will cause symptoms within two weeks of exposure. However, this is not always the case. Up to 90% of HSV positive people don't even know they have the virus because their bodies didn't have a significant enough response to contracting it.
Im sorry I forgot to mention the date! My last sexual encounter was Oct 3.. is that a good or bad sign?
Herpes can present in a number of ways, and also mimics other conditions, so it's hard to say whether your symptoms are an indication of having contracted the virus.
If you get new bumps, go and have them swabbed within 48 hours of presenting. Also, you might try Planned Parenthood to see if you can get a blood test done. But you'll need to show them symptoms before they'll do any kind of test. If they agree, ask for an IgG type-specific blood test.
If it is indeed herpes, but it's a new infection - less than 4 months after exposure, there's a high probability that the test will come back negative, because you will not have built up enough protective antibodies to trigger a positive result. You will need to re-test after 4 months. Good luck!
If herpes are an issue, then there must be a source. Was there any firm of sexual contact in the 2-10 days before the bumps appeared?
They don't sound much like herpes given the healing cycle and location.
