I thought it got better...

I have both genital hsv1 and 2. My first outbreak was the hsv1 in feb of this yr, it was extremely mild, no tingling, itching, burning etc. I'm experiencing what can only be my second outbreak and this time its very uncomfortable, itching, painful and even my muscles hurt, my feet esp and my right butt cheek feels like I did hundreds of squats. My outbreak is in the exact same spot as the first time. Don't outbreaks get more mild with time? And I've been told I wont have hsv2 outbreaks cause Ive already had hsv1 outbreaks, is that true?

lysine doesn't have any significant effect on herpes - neither preventing recurrences nor speeding healing of lesions. it's one of the biggest persisting myths about herpes out there :(    don't waste your time or your money.

I did call the clinic but nothing yet. I heard Lysine (not sure on the spelling) will work similar to the antivirals, I think I will try that till I can get the prescription. The physical part of this (body aches) seems to be getting better already. How long do the outbreaks last after the first initial outbreak?

mostly they do show up in the same general area but the locations can change over time.

the holidays do complicate things when it comes to being seen. did you call the clinic to ask for a new prescription for antivirals?

you will always get accurate and up to date info here!

No I was not told that by you. Im beginning to feel like the worse part of having herpes is educating myself on it, just when I think I know it all I hear something different and its starts the confusion all over again. I have been trying to get in to see my dr to get a culture like you suggested in my other post but its not going so well. I am currently out of antivirals :( and with the holiday weekend here I wont be getting them for at least a couple more days. This outbreak is in the exact same spot as my first and only other one, can I expect it in the same spot every time?

you were not told you would not have hsv2 ob's since you have had hsv1 ob's here by me.  You actually will have more hsv2 recurrences than you will hsv1 recurrences if indeed you do have them both genitally. we discussed your situation a little in your previous post on this somewhat but you didn't do much follow up.

did you start any herpes antivirals with this recurrence?
