I want to die...

I was just diagnoised with Herpes. I'm so angry,so ashamed,so embarassed. I only had with one person and I'm finding out I wasn't the only person he was having sex with. I feel so stupid and I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm in so much pain...physically and emotionally. I've been prescribed with Acyclovir, but that's not taking away the soreness or the burning while peeing.I feel so stupid and ashamed asking this, but does anyone know of any type of over the counter cream/power that I could apply to the area to take away some of this pain? I read it's best to keep the area dry to heal faster and the meds prescribed really aren't doing too much.  Thanks.

what symptoms did you have?

if you are thinking of suicide, please call your local suicide hotline immediately and get some proper help.

I too was just diagnosed with herpies today, and I want to kill myself. I got it by sharing a cigarette with my brother who failed to inform me of his disease. Now I feel like I have a huge weight to carry on my shoulders for the remainder of my life because of my brother's careless actions. I feel your pain, but we just have to keep going and take all the ******** life throws us. Easier said then done though. Take care and god be with you, we WILL get through this.

how did they diagnose you as having genital herpes? What testing have you had done so far?

I know it seems awful but it really isn't as bad as it seems at the moment. give yourself time to deal with all of this.  The herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a free and terrific resource as is the patient counseling video on the same website. also Terri's book "the good news about the bad news" is well worth the $15 they charge for it on amazon too for more reading.

what dose of acyclovir did they give you? it should be 400mg 3x/day for 7-10 days.

Did they also test you for other std's as well as yeast and bacterial vaginitis?

I recommend dermoplast spray ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can ).  it's a topical anesthetic you can spray on for pain relief as needed.  Many other topical anesthetics out there too but that's one you can find for under $10 in most drugstores.

also if you can physically cover your lesions while urinating - put your hand in a plastic glove or a plastic sandwhich baggie and do so. Keeps the urine from physically flowing over the open lesions until they heal.

are you also taking tylenol and/or advil too for pain relief?

keep asking questions and posting :)
