I was diagnosed visually with GHSV 10 months ago, 9 month ago I took the blood tests for GHSV 1 and 2. all came back negative IGG except the IGM for HSV2 which was equivocal. The remaining IGG came back negative. I took another blood test IGG three months ago all came back negative (hsv 1 and 2) . I changed to Quest laboratiories and took the IGGS again a month ago they came back negative. My question I ve been having these symptoms herpes like, very itchy and pain in the butt but test don´t come back positive for HSV. the test have been made in Mexico the method used for the first igg was Quimiluminesence and in quest was EIA or so I was told. What should I do? retest again. I also took some small dosis of Valtrex on and of. can this interfere with the blood test
The odds of you really having genital herpes are very low. the igm herpes test is a poor test in general and isn't recommended to be used. Your igg's have been negative 2x now and enough time has passed.
what other sort of work up have you been thru for your symptoms?
Thank you Grace.
As said I was kind of diagnosed 10 months ago and since then three IGGS negative the last a month ago.but I keep having these herepes like symptoms I have hade blisters and this burning itching in my groni does not goes away, I ve been having it constantly since 8 or so months. also I experience something very strange in my feet, they burn and hurt so much, do not know if that could be Herpes related. Don´t know what to think. I a am 40 years old healthy male, and been through so many exams and tests over last year and nothing comes up...
Has anyone suggested fungal infections as a cause?
At this point I'd continue following up with your provider and/or a dermatologist to get a better idea of what's going on. if they continue to suspect genital herpes as a cause, they should be getting lesion cultures and not blood tests at this point.
