IGG results question

My Dr. called with the results of my test and said they were negative. (I thought he gave me some numbers but was not sure).  Later on myself and the nurse were on the phone and I asked her to look at the test results and please give me the numbers.  She said "it just says less then .91 for HSV 1 and less then .91 for HSV 2".  Do they normally give the actual numbers on these results or if the results are negative do they just say "less then .91"?  Thanks

there is no need for any numbers actually with negative results. Many labs do report as less than .91.

Thanks Grace. So if I have what you said correct they do not report the actual numbers along with the "less than .91"?  Do I have that right?

your results were reported properly.

Maybe you misunderstood me, or I am misunderstanding you.  I know they put the "less then .91" but what I am trying to find out is if they also put on the paperwork the actual numbers?  So if I call up the office and request the numbers will they be on the paperwork from the lab?

(I am asking because it is a busy office so I hate to call have them take the time to get my chart only to find out the numbers are not on it).

your results are negative. you don't need any more information from the office. Makes no difference if the exact numbers are .23 or .78 - they are clear negatives if they are less than .91 and there's no need for exact numeric results when negative.
