IGG versus IGM

I received a positive IGM test (HSV IGM antibody w/refl, titer - 1:10 H), but a negative IGG test (both HSV 1 and 2 were <0.9).  My boyfriend is the only person I've had sex with over the past 8 months.  His test just came back, with negative IGM and IGG.  

We took the test as he messed around with another girl (claims just oral sex) about 2 months ago.  

Neither of us have shown any herpes symptoms.  Is it possible my IGM was a false positive, or could he have the virus but his tests were false negatives?

oh yeah the igm has a high false positive rate. the igg is the only reliable test im not an expert but many doctors have said the igm is useless and should never be done.
