IGM false positive?

by Butterflygurl85, Jul 03, 2009 02:05AM
A month after I had sex with a guy..it was protected with a condom..no oral sex..just mostly dry kissing.Did a lil french kising but not much.  I had a herpes 1&2 IGM blood test come out positive in the high range. Scared the **** out of me.Dont see how this test is right. I read on the internet and talked with testing counselors and they told me it could be a false positive?  I hope it is. I did a herpes 1&2 IGG test and I am still waiting on the results. I am hoping the test is wrong for my sake.:(

An IgM blood test is not a valid test for herpes.

Wait for the IgG results. Using a condom gives significant protection against the transmission of herpes and STDs in general. Does he even have herpes?

IgM just is not a reliable test to diagnose herpes is all.  Your IgG will tell you what you need to know.
