I was diagnosed positive with IGM. Does this mean that this is my initiall herpes outbreak? How reliable is this?

IgM is not a reliable test for herpes - disregard it. What were the IgG type/numeric results?

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Confusiion-over-other-IgM-Herpes-posts/show/248394 ; this is a terrific former post by HHH that goes into detail why the igm herpes test is a poor test in general and should never be used to diagnose herpes in adults.

Your igg is +.  We will gladly look at it to see if you need additional testing done if you post the results here. All we need to see if hsv1 igg 4.4 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever the results are - no need to type anything else.
