If you have hsv1 in genital, does this mean you can transmit orally as well?

I was recently diagnosed with hsv1 inthe genitals by way of saliva for lubrication and of course it would happen to me. I am very depressed and trying to educate myself but still have so many questions and theymight seem silly... If i have hsv 1 in the genital, can i transmit it by making out, or sharing a drink, a spoon, lipstick? Can i spread it when i shower ( like if ive shave and water fromthat region flows down?) i am also scared to death to pass this on to my child. I am wearing gloves when changing her and bathing her. Im also scared to touch my face after showering in case i have touched myself down there while cleansing. Pardon all the questions, this is new to me. Can i still go for long runs? Can i still wear form fitting clothes or is this only not recommended when having an outbreak? Thank you.

It is common and hsv1 genitally is usually very mild. Meaning few outbreaks and it doesn't shed as much as hsv2. Your chances of passing it through genital sex is very low as well. Believe me it won't stop you from anything. Including finding more another partner. Most adults have hsv1 orally anyway which means they are totally safe. The odds are in your favor so try not to worry about the social stigma of hsv 1. I know it doesn't seem like it right now but in time you will find it's not a big deal at all.

You cannot be diagnosed with type visually.

Have you got the results of the culture back yet?

It happened because he used his saliva to lubricate me while having intercourse.
The symptoms happened maybe 7 days after intercourse. I hope i am one of these cases of women who never have another outbreak. I have a prescription handy in case i feel the symptoms again. Im just worried i wouldnt be able to tell the signs in time to prevent the outbreak. Thanks for taking time to respond.

Try to calm down a bit here, things seem a bit confused.

Your partner, when did you last have sex with him? What was involved? Oral sex, vaginal sex?

As mentioned, this virus is locked in your genitals and will only be spread sexually and even this is a very low chance.

I was diagnosed by the nurse practitioner. I am taking valtrex right now.She sent the culture out for testing. I guess what scares me is the social response and also that an outbreak can betriggered by stress, periods, too muchcaffeine, heat etc...if i break up with my partner i worry that i will always be rejected. Your answer does ease my fears somewhat. I have read that it is a lotmore commonthanwhat people think. Thanks for taking time to respond.

How were you diagnosed?
No. You can not give it to anyone by kissing or any of the ways you describe. If you have a genital infection it stays there. Also hsv 1 is better to have than hsv 2 on the genitals. Hsv1 has far fewer outbreaks and sheds the virus (when not having an outbreak) very little. You have no chance of spreading your genital infection to your daughter. Just wash your hands after going to the bathroom like you probably already do. No need for gloves. You can still exercise and wear anything you want. Some woman never get another outbreak after the primary. It rarely is spread from genital to genital contact either. The vast majority of cases are from oral sex.
I hope this helps a little. I do want to know how you were diagnosed.
