IgG -ve, IgM +ve at 8 weeks after exposure. No symptoms

Hi,
I had unprotected oral and penetration with a women 13 weeks ago....
I started seeing rashes on penis head and foreskin and itching within a week.

Started applying anti-fungal creams...rashes would go away and then reappear after 2-3 days.
Finally I went to doctor after 8 weeks to get the blood work done.

All STDs negative except Herpes.

IgG was negative
IgM = 1.90

Its been 13 weeks now and no symptoms/outbreak. Should I retest for HSV again ?
What is the likelihood of having herpes looking at multiple threads that usually 8 weeks is a concrete test with 95-99% accuracy ?

I asked some testing centers too and they also confirmed that 6-8 weeks is generally confirmed.
Just want to make sure. Could IgM levels be high because of something else and not HSV ?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for positive words !!!

I went to my doctor last week (end of 13th week) and gave him blood sample to test again for HSV.

Regarding rashes and itching, he thinks it is fungal infection and that I just need to apply fungal cream for two weeks.

In my last note, I forgot to mention that between weeks 6-8, I had burning sensation in my scrotum and that's when I approached my doctor. He thought it is most likely the case of herpes especially looking at positive IgM. He said this could be the onset of an outbreak which I wasn't sure. He put me on Acyclovir for 10 days. But he mentioned whatever virus, if any, has been replicated, the virus will complete its course meaning an outbreak, blisters, soars, ulcers or lesions.
However, I never had any outbreak. Any thoughts ?

I will get to know about my blood tests again this week.

Thanks.

I think there is a significant probability that your IgG test will come back negative again.
Also, I get burning sensations and tingling on my scrotum and penis all the time. Never thought it was herpes.
Thanks .... My resultas came back negative for all IgG and IgM too this time at 13 weeks.
For your own safety, please starts using condoms all the time with sex partners of unknown STD status. There are infections far worse than herpes that you can contract from unprotected sex.

The IgM test is worthless. It is too unreliable. Your recurring rash every 2-3 days does not sound like herpes. A negative IgG test at 8 weeks is very reassuring. If I were you, I would not be too worried, but I would start using condoms and have an idea about my sex partners' std statuses so that I can avoid these sorts of episodes.
