IgG I/II vs. IgM I/II

I was test like 2 months ago with HSV I/II IgG and it came out to 31.5. The nurse called me and said that I tested positive for Herpes, but not sure which type. So I went back and was tested for IgM I/II and IgG I/II. Since both results were positive, she said that meant that I had both. I just dont understand how it says I have both. For the IgG, it says a positive indicates antibodies for HSV-1 and/ or HSV-2.

I know she's the nurse/doctor, she does this all day. But looking at the test results, the second test tested for both types, and just comes up positive. I know have HSV-1, I've had cold sores forever. I want to know if I truely do have HSV-2 as well.

Do these two test really indicate that I have both?

No, and if you are the same duckie that is posting on HHP, I think we've explained that to you.

(Yes, Grace and I are everywhere lol).

I know. lol. Can't blame me for trying to cover my bases. It must mean something, that she thought it meant that I had both. Maybe cause the numbers were high, I dont know. But she saw both were positive, and I just don't get it. I don't want to completely challenge her, but the 'what ifs' are killing me.

You had non-type specific testing done which was a total waste of your time and money since you already know you have a history of hsv1. I would actually ask them to credit you for their error in ordering these useless tests and ask them to properly order a type specific herpes igg blood test. If they have no idea which test to order, if you are in the US, just ask what lab they use to send their blood work to and we can probably give you the exact test number to ask to have drawn on you.  Your other option if you live in the US is to order it up yourself thru www.healthcheckusa.com or www.tstd.org. You can save some money by just ordering the herpeselect igg for hsv2 thru both even though their websites don't always say that.  Don't hesitate to call them /email them to ask to just order up the hsv2 igg.

The blood tests you have had done up to this point tell you nothing and were a waste of time. The person who has been trying to interprete these for you is also clueless and don't hesitate to tell them that ( in a nice way of course ).

Truly - it means nothing that the nurse said that to you except that she doesn't know what she is talking about, and needs to stop giving out info.

We have said this to you on HHP, and now here.  I don't know how to make it any clearer.
