IgG levels

I recently got myself tested for STDs and was found positive for HSV-1 and HSV-2.
the tests were done by tsd.org and the levels found were 2.04 and 2.25 for HSV-1 and HSV-2.

Questions which I have is:
1) are these levels high enough to ascertain that I have got herpes?
2) how deadly are these diseases and what are the costs associated with taking medications for these?

Next, what kind of doctors should I go and see to get more details?
I am really getting psyched out!!!

hi Grace,

Apart from the questions above, I had another doubt. I have had outbreak of chicken pox around 10 years back, like 1998. Can that be a cause of high IgG levels?

Thanks for your response Grace.

My sexual encounter dates back almost 12 months now. But I have been reading on the posts that the igg levels can show false positive for hsv2 if you have hsv1. I can no longer contact that partner so I am on my own to judge this. tstd site says that they used Focus Technologies’ HerpeSelect® 1 and 2 ELISA IgG tests and Methodology: Immunoassay.

since the encounter dates long back, I don't think I need to wait or another test. but which tests should I go for accurate results if tests by tstd can be false positive? and where can I find the labs where some other form of testing will be done.

thanks

www.ashastd.org has more reading on herpes to learn more.

Your hsv2 igg is still low positive and will need confirmatory testing. If it's been less than 3 or 4 months since your last sexual encounter then just wait and repeat the blood test in a few weeks/months.  Otherwise if you have a regular partner - ask them to get a herpes igg blood test to see what those results are.  If your repeat blood tests are still low positive then you'll need further confirmatory testing.  Another option is to just wait a few months and get your doctor to send off a herpes WB blood test.

Your regular doctor should be able to handle all of this.
