IgG testing

I was just wondering how long it usually takes for a type specific IgG test to become positive if one is infected with herpes?  Could it take longer than four months??
Thanks,
Emma

LOL looked at this first and thought - well emma got it - no need for me to read it...lol

With the herpeselect - about 50% of folks will seroconvert by 2-3 weeks after infection. About 2/3's by 6-8 weeks .  Almost everyone seroconverts by 6 months. We recommend the 3-4 months so that the vast majority of folks have tested accurately.

The test focus is using now takes a few weeks longer as does the WB to get the vast majority of folks testing accurately.  All the tests are going to be pretty darn accurate by the 4 month mark.  With the 2nd biggest lab in the US now using the captia test - I'm trying to get used to telling folks to wait 4 months instead of the usual 3 I used to go with.

Hope that helps emma!  www.herpesdiagnosis.com has more detailed info on herpes testing.
