IgM Question

I was administered an IgM test by my gynecologist. According to her, the test came back positive that I had had some form of a virus at some point in my life (like chicken pox), but was negative for any form of herpes. I'm confused because I didn't know that the IgM test could show one thing positive and another negative... I thought it was all clumped in to one answer. Could my doctor be wrong?

the herpes igm blood test is a poor test in general. you should completely disregard the results from it.

You need to get a type specific herpes igg blood test done. was that done too or just the igm?  It's been enough time from your previous encounter to get the igg test done.

it's most helpful when you just keep adding to your original post from your situation. saves me the time from having to go look for it and glance through it.   thanks!
