IgM positive and IgG postiive on HSV1

Recently, I had unprotected sex which prompted me to go get an entire STD panel done to make sure nothing was going on.
From my numerous readings, it sounds like the IgM tests are not something you should put much merit in. But I'm still curious. What my results mean or maybe it is even too hard to tell.

My first test
IgM results at 1.19
IgG HSV2  results .11

A week later, I did another test that was IgG specific for type 1 and type 2

IgG HSV1 results 1.75
IgG HSV2 results = negative (no number given on that test).

Now, after much research, I do understand IgM cannot  be relied upon and that HSV2 antibodies can take weeks to build.

However, with me IgM positive at 1.19 (assuming from HSV1) and my subsequent IgG HSV positive at 1.72

What does it mean? Does it mean I was recently infected or is that hard to tell in that I could have been infected since childhood. Or do I have a flare up that my body is trying to fight off. Or do they really have no correlation with each other since the IgM can fluctuate.

I do understand that most adults have the antibodies for HSV1 - so in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty unavoidable and not something to really to express great concern over (unless having a breakout)
I have never had a cold sore in my life.  Recently though, my throat has felt sore and slightly red but not sure if HSV1 symptoms can manifest themselves that way.

you tested too early for most std's. When to test for what is listed in the important announcements section on the std forum.

At this point, you need to repeat your hsv2 igg after the 3 month mark if you are really concerned. You've had no obvious symptoms in 2 weeks of your crotch watch though so not likely you contracted herpes from this encounter.

only 8 weeks is good indicator and 3 months conclusive, waist of money from the concern from your recent affair

I tested about 2 weeks after and then did a second test a week after that.

Hi, in theory igm appears first then dissappears so since you had a positive igm and a postive igG in the second test, it could infer a recent infection. The key to your question is how long after the affair did you test?
