Sorry for posting this question again. Im not really understanding how this is suppost to work. I posted a question regarding my igg test that came back negative for both hsv1 and hsv2. how is this possible when 4 years ago my doctor took a culture that they said came back positive. All they could tell me is that my exposer was mild and thats may be why i tested negative for the antibodies, How is this possible?
I didn't read your other post, so sorry if I am getting some of the facts wrong. False positive cultures are very rare, and are generally due to lab mix-ups if they happen. However, a small minority of people (I think about 5%) do not make antibodies to HSV. If you had an outbreak and the viral culture was positive for HSV, I would trust that.
Be well,
Em
