Incorrect initial results

Hi everyone,
So I posted here previously about my hsv results.
Initially, over the phone my dr told me that I had tested positive for hsv 1 when I went in for testing.
However this wasn't the case.
When I went in on Saturday she told me I was completely clear for both hsv 1 & 2.
I also had an igm done which came back equivocal
1.05 HI
Underneath it said hsv 1 igm - detected | hsv 2 igm - not detected.
I'm confused about these results. My initial "outbreak" was one solitary white bump that only hurt when I touched it.
I haven't had anything since, but it has been itchy/tender sometimes.
The only other things have been semi swollen lymph nodes and pain in my legs and tailbone.

Does this sound like herpes?
I've been worried sick for the last 2 months.
I also got a test on Friday that will show my results by this week.

just spoke with an infectious disease specialist.
she said with my history the igg would have been positive at this point.
she also agrees that I don't have anything.

thank you again for your help.

Thank you so much.
Last question, so I don't need to go around warning anyone that something may be wrong?
I will be using protection anyway, I'm just wondering.

I wouldn't bother with any further testing.

yeah, it's been 2 months of non stop worrying.
Do you think my igg results are accurate at this point?
Or do I need to follow up?

It's unfortunate when providers aren't up to date on herpes testing and order the wrong tests and cause their patients distress.  Encourage your provider to update their herpes testing knowledge!!

Okay.
So I shouldn't believe these results?
At 59 days post exposure the results were still less than 0.2 for the igg.
Do you recommend further testing.
I'm sorry to keep asking questions but I get s different result every week it seems.

igm tests for herpes aren't recommended for adults. There is a  high false positive rate. we never recommend treatment based on + igm results in adults.

I just got my igm results back?
It says 1.81 hsv 2 igm
I'm not sure what to do
My doctor says he wants to put me on medication now.
Even though my igg is negative?
I'm worried all over again.

I wasn't tested for anything else, but my gyn thinks that I had a bacterial folliculitis & that caused the bump.
Since I'm negative for both 1 & 2 the outbreak would've been bad, ie multiple lesions and not just one white bump/splotch that only hurt when touched, right?

Testing at the 8 week mark is early.

Your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes going on. I wouldn't bother retesting for herpes since you are clearly negative so odds are you would've had a very "classic" and painful , multiple lesion outbreak when you were infected.

Have they been testing you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you are seen?

Ok so the results are in.
8 wks post exposure negative for HSV 2 @ .1 reference according to my doc.
Is this confirmatory of things?

I also think I might be having a bump/blister type situation right on the downside of the clitoral hood but it's been there since Sunday & nothing's developed so i'm letting that go.

thanks for all the advice

Please keep to one post with all updates, it is very hard to keep track of developments otherwise.

I suspect your doctor jumped at the IgM result for HSV1; this is a pretty useless test for an adult often showing a false positive.

Your IgG result is the one to watch and it shows no HSV antibodies are present hence no infection. Your symptoms do not seem herpetic to me at all.
