Infections that could flag positive IgM results on herpes

I had unprotected sex in december last year. during this month i came down with a really bad throat infection which cause my tonsils to become white and canker sores in my mouth. I also had a fever of 103. I became scared that i contracted a std from my partner and got tested for stds. I am since without insurance but I went back and paid for the results. everything came back negative except for hsv1/2. I know the test cant distinguish the two but my doctor was very sure i have herpes. I told her I haven't experienced any symptoms and asked if the results for the positive herpes could have been caused by my infection.. she told me no but I read the paper and it clearly stated that it could. My question is what infections could flag positive herpes results. and after about 4 months of having sex and showing no symptoms should i be as worried as i am?

At this point there's no way to know what it was going on then. If you are worried, both you and your partner should get type specific herpes igg blood tests done. I can help you both with the results if you need them.

The non-type specific herpes igg blood test was a waste of your time and money. You can't ascertain a single thing from it.   Even if you repeat your blood test with a type specific herpes igg blood test and it comes back as hsv1+ ( th emost common cause of oral herpes infections ) , no way to know if it was the cause of your symptoms then or not.  A lesion culture at the time would've been most helpful. Did they also do strep cultures on your throat at the time and such?
